About Andrea the Midwife:
Andrea Bonita Jordan is an independent community midwife, breastfeeding specialist and childbirth educator.
Andrea was excited about pursuing the profession of midwifery from her teen years, and studying at Kings College University of London helped seal the high standard of education and care that Andrea carries forward today.
Andrea has worked as a group practice midwife working as part of a team providing one–to-one care to women in the community of South East London.
Andrea has also travelled to South East Asia and worked as a volunteer, training midwives and health workers in Indonesia; and more recently, Andrea has been living and working in Barbados as a birthing centre, water-birth and community midwife, before relocating with her family back to the UK; where Andrea now works as an NHS homebirth Team Midwife in Croydon, Surrey.

During her time in Barbados, Andrea had 2 children, both born gently and peacefully, outside of hospital. The first was a water-birth at a freestanding Birthing Centre and the second was a water-birth at home.
The joy and empowerment that came with the birth of her two children has emboldened Andrea to make sure that her clients are knowledgeable and feel empowered to choose this for themselves.

Home Visits for antenatal & postnatal care.
Antenatal and Postnatal Check-ups:

These days, women and their partners are actively seeking independent midwives for their maternity care, while still being booked in at their local hospital for NHS care.
The average length of an antenatal or postnatal visit with me as your midwife is approximately 60-90 mins. So for example, rather than going out to a midwife clinic on day 5 for a postnatal checkup lasting 15-20 minutes involving baby weighing, wound check etc.; these can be done in the comfort of your own home.
Independent midwives value true CONNECTION with their families and a more holistic and woman/family centered approach to care.

Breastfeeding Specialist Support
Breastfeeding Support:
Some babies latch onto the breast straight away after birth and with no difficulty at all, while others have a challenge with latching on, staying on or draining the breast adequately.
Equally some mothers have developed bad habits or anxiety from past breastfeeding experiences which requires fresh support and guidance for this new baby.
Connect Midwifery Care offers breastfeeding specialist services and is here to help you with your breastfeeding problems and concerns.

Childbirth Preparation classes:
Childbirth preparation classes are essential for couples who want to be well informed and prepared for birth, and are for those who recognize the importance of having childbirth choices . From these classes, the you can then go on to decide what you want for your birthing experience, and formulate ‘Birth Preferences’ (often called a Birth Plan) to share with birth supporters.
